- A package tour of Europe is a valuable service for people who are hesitant about exploring on their own. It saves the trouble of planning each leg of one's own itinerary. For a good idea of a package tour, rent the film "If It's Tuesday, This Must be Belgium." The advantage of a package tour is that everything is planned for you. The drawback of a package tour is that everything is planned for you. If you are lingering in a café in a small village square over a delicious cappucino and the best pastry you ever sank your teeth into, the last thing you want is your tour guide shouting that it's time to gulp it down because the bus leaves in ten minutes. Instead of taking time to really get to know a place, a package tour will dash you through the highlights. Some of Europe's most scenic and beautiful places are seen through the windows of a speeding bus. Planning your own trip is not hard, but it takes a little time. Get a good guidebook, such as Let's Go: Europe, which has a great section on planning your trip, or the DK Eyewitness Travel Guide to Europe and read up on the places you are interested in. Limit them so you can have pleasant, unhurried memorable visits to each. Travel with a Eurail Selectpass, which allows a few days of travel in several contiguous European countries. Visit www.raileurope.com to learn all about railpasses. Two people traveling together qualify for a Saverpass, which saves even more. For your first visit to Europe, consider concentrating on the most familiar places, such as Munich, Zurich, Paris, London and Brussels. Plan to spend at least two or three weeks to get the most out of both your experience and your investment. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Beginning your life together on a leisurely trip through Europe will be a memorable start to a happy union!
- Where did you get your package deal from.. they should have pamphlets.
- For a honeymoon, go to Italy. Start in Venice and ride some boats in the canals, then go to Verona and visit the Balcony of Romeo and Juliet, next to Florence, Siena, Cinqueterre, down to Rome, and if you have time rent a car and drive around the Amalfi coast, spend a night in Positano, and check out Pompeii and Ercolano, and before the last eve of the trip go into the Museo Archeologico Nazionale in Naples and ask for admission into the Gabinetto Segreto to see the old “toys” adults used in the B.C. era. Or you could skip that and take a boat to Capri or Sardinia, or check out Taormina in ENE Sicily. Another suggestion is to take an Adriatic cruise from Venice and check out Croatia, stopping at numerous islands and get down to Dubrovnik.
- I recommend consulting Elite Incentive Travel. They provide options for luxury, leisure, and honeymoon/romance travel and they'll help you find specials that aren't otherwise listed.
